6/10/2011 3:36:38 AM | This is my first post on the forum. I am doing some research on the 401st in the UK during WWII. I have come across a reference to Paul de Jong and would like to know if anyone on the forum can give me any more information or news about him. I do not know his rank nor his role - whether air, ground or support crew. I do know he knew, worked for, or worked with, Major R B Engel (a name on the back of a photograph). I have seen Major Engel's name on a Crew List on this forum. I have also noted a reference to Ivo de Jong on the forum, is there a connection? I have posted this in Air Crews but if you think it should be reposted in another section please do so. I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help me. All the best. Jon

I have a few more details that may help.I now know that Paul de Jong was at RAF Deenethorpe around the end of 1943 which means he probably arrived with the main Group from the USA. I now have another question, can I as a civilian and outsider access the official WWII miltary records of the USAF? Or can you guide me to other lists that may help me identify his rank? I would be grateful any guidance you can give me in helping to identify Paul de Yong's miltary history. Many thanks, Jon

It would help if you were able to say in what context the references to him you have found, as that will narrow down any likely avenues of enquiry. All the best, Paul
