thank you for the crew names.Ihave the 401st blue book and a photo of a B-17 # 43-38758.The plane has no nose art of any kind that i can see. L.Berneburg was my wifes grandfathers brother.I also have a B15 flight jacket,a set of headphones,photos and other things.I would also like to join the 401 bg association if i can.Thank you for any feedback.

  Richard, CLICk on Membership  on this site for application blanks to join the 401st Association. We have quarterly news lettter that keeps all in touch.

I have a list of crew members, missions, and known planes they flew.  Can also send info on the individual planes including if pictures exist.  Let me know your address, and I will send you copies.

Here is more information on L. Berneburg that was mentioned in another post: "info on L.(bernie)Berneburg,pilot 401 bg. I think 615s,B-17 nicknamed (DOTTY). Mr Berneburg passed away a few years ago in Fort Worth Texas.Thank you for your help.".  

Lt. Col. Lavern L. Berneburg died on November 30, 1999. The Dotty referred to was for his wife (who died in 1990).

Bernie, as his friends called him, was my Uncle.  If you would like any more information on him, please let me know.
