May, 7, 1944 mission to Berlin.

8/27/2002 12:40:57 AM | There is a picture of the plane (Lassie Come Home) at the Air Force Museum, negative number 297. You can't always tell if it's a crew picture, just a plane picture, or what, until you see a copy. The crew was shot down on only their third mission and the airplane had been at Deenethorpe for a few months, so I wouldn't count on it being a crew shot. I don't have an address or phone number for the museum, but check with Dayton Ohio directory assistance. It would be under file J4 US/AC B-17/Pho. I don't know if you can order copies like you can with the National Archives.

Ironic. My dad was in the 612th and our family was known as the House of Grimmet in Scotland from the 1300's on.
