I believe it will be 42-6310 because there was some other photos of a crashed B-24 in the same area, September 10th a B-24 of the 446. was lost - so I see the single B-24 loss in the same area as the IY-P´s. Hope to get some other photos maybe there´s more to see. The crash side must be Heimerdingen near Munich. Regards from Germany Michael |
Scott McElvain 5/14/2002 10:35:48 AM | I believe the serial number should be 44-6310. No known photos in the National Archives. There was no 43-6310 in the 401st according to the Bits and Pieces Project booklet that lists First Air Division B-17s by group and serial numbers. |
