Came across this in the WWII US Air Force Photo Archive, and thought it was such a good photo I'd better post it up.
I don't think we have a copy in our NARA Collection:

IW-G 42-107084 "Betty's Revenge" can be seen lower left, with the rest of the 401st in tidy formation behind.
The lack of black edgings to the yellow fin stripe indicates the photo was taken sometime between mid August and early September 1944.

For reference, this is NARA Photo ID 55253AC.

All the best,
Paul

Paul,

Wow, a what nice photo.

There are so many nice photos in the forum and I am wondering if they will eventually be added to the gallery? This way they could be placed in a group or category...just a thought.

Here's a crop from NARA Photo 27177AC:

The top two B-17s are from the 401st, that on the right being the first time I've seen IW-H 42-31064 "Hey Lou" in a photo.
This photo was taken during Mission No.6 to Ludwigshaven on the 30th December 1943, the day before "Hey Lou" was lost in action.

The B-17s lower down are from one of the 401st's sister Groups in the 94th Combat Wing, the 351st from Polebrook,
Right down at the bottom are some B-24s from the 2nd Division.

All the best,
Paul
