I would like to share this Memorial Day poem with all of you.

A Memorial Day Poem
By C W Johnson

We walked among the crosses
Where our fallen soldiers lay.
And listened to the bugle
As TAPS began to play.

The Chaplin led a prayer
We stood with heads bowed low.
And I thought of fallen comrades
I had known so long ago.

They came from every city
Across this fertile land.
That we might live in freedom.
They lie here 'neath the sand.

I felt a little guilty
My sacrifice was small.
I only lost a little time
But these men lost their all.

Now the services are over
For this Memorial Day.
To the names upon these crosses
I just want to say,

Thanks for what you've given
No one could ask for more.
May you rest with God in heaven
From now through evermore

Jackie

Don & Ed,

Every time I think of my father and all the other men and women who gave so much it still hurts and I hope no one forgets their sacrifices.

Don & Ed,

Quite often when I see a man with a cap on who is obviously a vet....I try to walk up to them and say thank you.

They often seem surprised and that is a shame. So to any and all vets who may read this today....Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

And to the families that supported them and especially to the families that lost a loved one.....know that we care more than any poem or words could ever express.

Just resurrecting this thread so that we can, once again, remember our those who sacrificed and give them one big for their services.

I thank God for all of our veterans; how very different things would be without them and all that they did.
