The Fighter Collection have confirmed the booking of Liberty Belle and Pink Lady for the Flying Legends Air Show at Duxford on the 12th and 13th July, in addition to Sally B and Mary Alice who are based on site.

44-8846 DS-M "Pink Lady", currently based in France, flew six missions from Polebrook with the 351st Bomb Group, one of the 401st's sister groups in the 94th Combat Wing.

Could be Ed.........

However, it may be the last time Liberty Belle is in the air.
A news article the other day says she may be grounded on her return to the USA due to rising fuel and insurance costs. 😢

Article from the Buffalo News HERE.

In other news......
Did you hear that one of the US-based B-24s did a bombing run over a California range with (concrete) replica bombs last weekend?

Details to follow as I get them.

Digressing for a minute... I often marvel at the irony of our current situation. We made a deal with the Saudi's and the Middle East to win that war and here we are later somewhat at their mercy.

The sooner we obtain energy independence, the better.

Liberty Belle arrived safely at Prestwick in Scotland at about 7pm BST:

Looks like the grounding rumour may be unfounded, as she's apparently doing another long over-water trip in December. To Australia!!!

Ooo! That top photo is a beautiful shot! Did you take it, Paul? Just curious. It looks like the kind of photo that would be perfect for some B-17 related forum project. 😉

Sorry Ed,

I wasn't able to fly up to Prestwick today personally, as I didn't know today was the day she was inbound from Iceland until mid-afternoon.

I found the pictures (by Jeff J Mitchell/Getty Images Europe) HERE.

Real-time tracking of her trip is viewable HERE. Looks like she's overnighting at Prestwick at least.

Paul

Pink Lady arrived from France yesterday lunchtime, so there's three on the apron and Mary Alice indoors at Duxford now. 😎

Some smashing air-to-air and ground photo's of Liberty Belle from earlier in the week can be seen HERE.

All the best,

All:
10-4 on the great photos. Leaves me shaking, from way-over here.
BBC World News broadcast (Thursday evening, San Francisco time) a wonderful short segment on the ground and aboard Liberty Belle, with a turn over Madingly visible out the lefy side. (Trying to see if I can get a copy of that).
Somebody - pppppuouuuullllleeeeeaaaassssseeeeee get some video and audio of the 4-sisters.
Jealously green, head to toe,

Went to Dux today "Liberty Belle" and "Pink Lady" did a nice tandem display with a P51 escort, my long suffering wife recorded the lot, marvellous, you aint gonna get to see it though coz I aint no Paul Bellamy and have no idea how to put it on line. Looks increasingly like the only B-17 flying I'm gonna see this year as our own "Sally B" is very sick indeed. So anyone living near the engine repair shop over there in the US kick ass please the same to any UK residents living near Deltair or whatever they call themselves. Now I'm going to watch the recording for the 100th time since this afternoon......heaven I'm in heaven etc etc. 😂

<tease> Blast it, Dale, that's just selfish of you! </tease>

I've mentioned this before, but Google's Picasa allows you to store pics and videos for free up to the first gigabyte. Just FYI. Also, FYI, there are other services out there as well, such as YouTube or BitBucket.

With it, you can show off videos like this and this.

@ Andy

Have fun, Andy, don't forget to take pictures and don't be selfish like Dale and not share. 😉
