I've been fiddling with a computer model of a B-17G I found online. The intention is to be able to add it to the Virtual Deenethorpe model at some point.

I've worked out how to add the right markings:

Now to replace the fuselage insignia, correct a few things like the horizontal stabilisers and ball turret, and give it an identity. How does IW-J sound Ed?

All the best,
Paul

Why... what a BRILLIANT choice, Paul! 😉

Looks good so far, but... is it me, or does the tail gun look a little to "pinched" towards the end?

Yes, it is a bit tight.

I've just added a proper spherical ball turret and the waist windows, so will probably do the tail next.

Thanks Don.

I got fed up fiddling with the tail and fuselage profile in the original model, so I deleted them and started again:

I've built a Cheyenne tail, as it's easier. 😉

Now to work out how to build the nosecone again.... oops.

EDIT:
Nosecone bashed together after a fashion, and a clone of the model in olive drab, just to see how it looked:

(Yes, I know I haven't changed the colours of the wing triangle..... 😉 )

Makin' good progress, Paul.

Just out of curiousity, what format is the model in?

Ed.

It's in SketchUp (.skp) format at the moment Ed.

Ed,

If you want me to e-mail you a copy of the model just let me know, and what your preferred format is.
I warn you though, it really is as rough as old boots. 😉 It's not to scale, and my modifications to the originaL are all done "by eye".

All the best,

Naturally, I'd love a copy, but I doubt I'd be able to do too much with it at the moment. Currently, I'm busy "farting" around with annoying technologies like "dot NET..."

If you send it, can you send it in Lightwave format? I have Lightwave on this machine, although it's been a while since I messed with it and my skills are novice, at best.

Sorry Ed,

I don't think I can convert the .skp to a .lwo with the kit I have here.

uuuurgh, dot.NET.... I've spent the last four days trying to sort out the various issues installing XP SP3 has created, which wasn't helped by my ISP's DNS Servers deciding to shut down......

Ahhhhh, 'pooters will make life easier for all of us.......... 🙄

All the best,

Shoot me an email as to what types of file types you can use, I might be able to use one of them.

Don't get me started on the whole "dot NET" thingee... I'm an old Amiga Geek from way way back, that, therefore, makes me a sworn M$ hater. 🙂

As to making our lives easier... they do. As long as they don't break down, which they do quite often... stupid computers!
