SusanD 1/11/2008 11:02:42 AM | I am researching Richard G. Thill, KIA 4/11/44. I know that he was with the 614th Bomber Squadron, 401st Bomber Group. I've ordered MACR 4017 but have not yet received. Best I can tell, the plane's nickmame was "Gloria J." and the SN was 42-39881. I would appreciate any information, photos, hints that might help me piece together the story of the crew, missions, etc. Thanks, Susan |

No current member listed in the 2005 401st Bomb Group Directory but one did appear in the 1989 directory and has most likley passed away and that was the bombadier. Gelene Gutierrez 1/23/2008 4:51:54 PM | Hi Susan- I just read your post and if you have any questions that I can answer, let me know... I have a letter written from one of the survivors from the plane. He gives a small account of the event... I wasn't sure if you wanted more information regarding the crew it's self or just your family member... If you are interested, I can tell you what I know about my grandfather... I know that the Gloria J was not the normal plane that they flew on and it was the Shady Ruff.. I learned alot from this website. Let me know if you received the information that I forwarded to you too, since it contained a lot of good information.. Thanks, Gelene |
