My Uncle was part ofthe 401st bomb group --Cpl. C.A. Richardson.  I'm looking for any information I can find for a scrapbook I'm putting together for him.  He was in England from 1943 to 1945

Do you know what squadron he was in, his pilot if he flew, and maybe what plane?  It would help us find info for you.

No -- I know he worked on the planes not flying on them ----He goes by Bunk -- I have a picture of him form the 401 Bomb group book published in 1945. He is working on a plane that was damaged by a German Flak on a mission over France  I have several pictures of him in front of planes, but you can not see any of the planes' names

Hope:

If any of your Dad's pictures with airplanes show either:
a. The tail rudder (with the aircraft's serial number), or
b. The fusalage's big 'Squadron Formation ID' on either side (For example: 'IN-C'  The 'IN' identifies the 613Sq.)
those would help identify his Squadron.
Good luck.
Win

It is my uncle --I know he was in the 613 squadron -- He said he worked on the plane Satan's children -- I will ask him about the other plane you wanted to know about -- I have not heard him mention its name -- None of the plane photos I have show the serial number or the isigna -- Uncle Bunk may have others -- that I have not seen --

This 401BG Website (History>Assigned Aircraft) lists B-17 serial number 43-87706, 'IN-U', 'Satan's Chillen', and if you 'click' on the serial number, lists the Crews and missiona it flew.

If you can save and print that page for your Uncle, he may recall some names, and you could try to contact them through this Website's Forum or the 401BG's current membership Directory.

(The latter is one good reason for becoming a member of the 401BG Association, presuming you're not currently a member. It's not expensive and may help you and your Uncle reach other Ground Crew he worked with to "Keep 'Em Flying".)
