6/23/2012 1:30:25 AM | My Uncle Frank flew in tonight for a long weekend visit. He was a ball turret gunner with the 613th. While he's here we're going to go and meet a couple of veterans from our group for the first time. I learned they live in my area when they sent in their dues. Carl Ritting, Pilot from the 612th and Sam Scimeca, Pilot from the 614th and both of their wives. Should be a great time!! Carl only lives 15 minutes away! Sam just learned of our website and group a couple of weeks ago! He's hoping to come to the reunion. There are at least three other veterans in my area that I hope to catch up with soon along with a few widows and children of veterans.
We hope to put an updated directory out in the future so others can see whose living near them and possibly get together. I know of another Bomb Group that has weekly or possibly monthly meetings at a local Wendy's. They call it Wings over Wendy's. They meet for coffee from 8 - 11 a.m. and it's standing room only. I may have to start a Wings group here maybe once a quarter for starters!
