To Paul and others,

We have built a large hangar to house the B-17 restoration. The building will be open to the public and house other WWII aircraft such as the B-25. Since the B-17 will be getting the 401st BG colors, I thought it would be a great tribute to display a brick (or other item) from the Deenethorpe airfield. Is there a way to get an item suitable for display along with a picture of the item at the airfield? This of course would need to be done with the appropriate permissions and with utmost respect for the men who served and the airfield itself.

Thanks,

Dave Shiffer

I suggest you contact the 401st Bomb Group in this matter. As there is an affiliated 401st BG orginization in Britian.

Hello to all the guys working on the B-17 at Urbana. My name is Paul Claxon, and we fly up to Urbana from Portsmouth, Ohio for lunch, and to keep up with the restoration. I suggest you contact the 401st Bombardment Group (H) Association Inc. at P.O. Box 15356, Savannah, Ga 31416. They might be of help with your brick or anything that would be of help with your project. Hope you name it "Command Performance" that was shot down on April 13th, 1944. 2 KIA - 8 POW. A great friend, Howard Crull, Ball Turret Gunner was our Bugler on our Honor Guard here at Portsmouth before he went "Forever Aloft in 2007.
