I hope you don't mind, but I've posted the above photo, and the "then and now" ones from your other thread to one of my local forums to see if anything crops up. There are quite a few people who know a great deal about this sort of thing on there.
Could you post the wartime photo's showing the patch on your Dad's jacket? Apparently it would help a lot.
