Hi!
I'm a young french guy of 21 years old and I've bought a shirt on ebay.com with the name of Tim Hom.
With several research I've found his unit  -> 614th Bomb Squadron.
I search other informations on him , maybe pictures or documents with his name mentionned. Do anyone know him?
Maybe is he still alive?
Thank you for your answers,
Best regards,
Bertrand

Bertrand,

I searched all names in the 614th BS and found no matching initials "T & F" and last name begining with an "H".

If I may ask what kind of shirt is it you purchased and it may be possible he was in support of the 613th BS and therefore not listed as combat crews.

Oh okay,
Here is the patche of the shirt: http://i41.tinypic.com/maxfyp.jpg
I think you're right in saying he was not in combat crew but that's sure he was in the 614th bomb squadron. I don't know the signification of the patche but certainly in radio operator on the ground.
So , what could I do to have what I search?
Thanks for your quick reply,
Bertrand

Ok I have asked for some help on this patch. Were their other patches on either shoulder other than 8th AAF's.  I believe he was in ground communications.  But being able to track farther tha what you have to the NARA file will be almost impossible.  I did some searching on the name and came up with nothing.  Will let you know of anything elses that comes up.

Okay,
A friend of mine said me he saw on a document "US army - Embarkation personnel roster" that Tim Hom was in 614th bomb squadron / 401st Bomb group with:
-Major Darrs Albert,E
-Captain Blumenthel Herman,B
-Captain Hardesty Hiram,H
-Hell George,T
-Hamec Jr, Robert S
-Herberg William,H
-Homell,John G

I've seen on your website the name of Blumenthel and it shows he was radio operator in 615th bomb squadron...
But I didn't see anything about the other and especially Major Darrs.

Hi Bertrand:

None of the names you list are in the 1947 401st Bomb Group Directory. That post-War publication had the best information available at the time, but is known not not to be complete.

The 401st's 'Blumenthal' is Gerald I. Blumenthal, a Radioman, but I believe he was a Group Radio Maintenance Facjljty man (and not an Air Crewman).

I realize this conflicts with your embarkation information, but is it possible the '401st' you are looking for is the 401st 'Squadron' (and not the 401st Bomb Group)?

ho... I'm really sorry , I've made a big mistake.
It is not Blumenthal who is mentionned but Hermann Blumenthel.
Although , on the documend , It said 401st bomb group!
Thanks,
Bertrand

Hi Bertrand:
Please don't feel sorry. There are many reasons information may differ besides 'mistakes'.
...That's why we keep looking - To find the answers. Good hunting.
