I can't find the nickname in my list of 401st planes or a serial number.
|- | '''Win Bryson'''
6/2/2005 1:26:58 AM | Check 42-102947; IN-S (D-Day Dottie) in the assigned 401BG A/C listing.
|- | '''Scott McElvain'''
6/2/2005 6:34:57 PM | Thanks, Winn. Missed it when I was looking through the plane page of this website. Unfortunately, even though D-Day Dottie made it through the war and ended up at Kingman, the National Archives doesn't have any photos of it. There doesn't seem to be any known photos of the plane. There is always a possibility that a crew might have had their picture taken in front of it, without enough of a serial number or nickname visible to identify it.
|- | '''Win Bryson'''
6/3/2005 5:56:40 PM | Scott:
I agree. Something tells me I've seen the nose-area in a Crew photo, but of course I can't remember where (like in the PFG or something like that). If I find it, I'll let you know.

Win
|- | '''kenneth russo'''
6/8/2005 12:09:27 PM | from what i read on this site its. serial # 42-102947. i asked my dad but he can't remember.
ken.
|- | '''ken russo'''
6/8/2005 12:13:28 PM | i managed that, thanks to this site, but just wanted to see if anybody knew him.
thank you for your time and help.
ken.
|- | '''ken russo'''
6/8/2005 12:22:38 PM | thank you scott,
now where is kingman? and what is it? not a grave yard....is it? but thank you for your help...there was a show on PBS two weeks ago on B-17S. i sware on my life i saw D-day dottie in what looked like a grave yard for planes.
thanks for your help,
ken.
|- | '''ken russo'''
6/8/2005 12:27:37 PM | that would be great, i would like to see the nose markings.
thanks for all you done.
ken.
|- | '''Scott McElvin'''
6/10/2005 1:42:14 AM | Yes Kingman was one of the boneyards.........
|- | '''KEN RUSSO'''
6/15/2005 12:49:21 PM | IS THERE A WAY TO GET INTOUCH WITH THEM TO SEE WHAT IS LEFT OF THE PLANE? OR DID THEY MELT IT DOWN? I'M WORKING ON A MODLE 1:70TH SCALE AND I'M LOOKING FOR SOME DETALE. THANKS.
KEN.
|- | '''Hans SHull'''
6/16/2005 4:43:16 AM | I'm pretty sure that there is a photo of the nose art of this plane in the nose art book that has all the 401st jacket photos.
I'm in Japan right now so I can't look. The photo is taken in the boneyard, and if I remember right it is an aluminum finished plane.
Hans
|- | '''Donald Byers'''
6/16/2005 9:50:08 AM | There is a picture of D Day Dolly of the 447th Bomb Group in that book but not of this aircraft.

Don Byers
|- | '''ken'''
6/22/2005 2:23:21 PM | thats what my dad told me. if you get time please let me know. have a nice trip in japan. thanks
ken.
|- | '''ken'''
6/22/2005 2:26:33 PM | d-day dolly? then my dad was right, most likely that was the photo i saw on tv then...well thanks any way.
ken.
|- | '''Donna Sharp-Noble'''
7/30/2005 11:57:43 PM | I am the youngest daughter of SMSgt. Jack T. Sharp, who served as the ball-turret gunner on the D-Day Dottie. He was shot down in July of 44, and a prisoner of war in Stalag Luft III until April of 45. My father just recently passed away on July 15 of this year. He was very quiet about his service in the 3 wars he was in, and if you could let me know anything your father might remember about those days, I would really appreciate it. Cherish him while you have him, and respect him always. Thanks for your time, Donna Sharp-Noble
|- | '''Jackie Sheflin'''
8/12/2005 10:47:19 AM | Hans,

I was wondering what the name of the book is that has all the art work for the 401st Jacket photos? Can this book still be purchased? It seems as though there are several of us interested in the D Day Dottie and finding a picture of her. I too would like to know where Klingman is located?

Also, for the gentleman looking for information on his father being a crew member on the D Day Dottie and not finding his name...remember to check other crews as sometimes crew members were loaned out to other crews. I know my father Jack Sharp sometimes flew on another crew when they were short Ball Turret gunners, but his name is not listed on their crews...just a thought.

Jackie
|- | '''GENE BUSH'''
8/16/2005 3:38:07 PM | HELLO GUYS, MY FATHER IS WILBUR BUSH AND HE FLEW ON THE D-DAY DOTTIE WITH THE BERNEBURG CREW. HELP IS MUCH APPREICIATED THESE DAYS.
GBUSH@MACONSUPPLY.COM
GENE BUSH
|- | '''GENE BUSH'''
8/16/2005 3:41:46 PM | KEN, MY FATHER; WILBUR BUSH; FLEW ON THE D-DAY DOTTIE.
