1. Photos: I think everyone, including me, is looking for 'then' photos, and the 401BG Historical Society there may be a good place to start. There may also be some local sources there to 'mine' also, besides the formal archives like the U.S. National Archives. The 401BG Unit History has 'then' photos, but it's hard to find a copy - here or there.
2. Wounded Vet: I don't know (or know of) the 401BG Vet. you're referring to, but perhaps someone else reading the postings does.
3. Deenethorpe Base: I believe the RAF built Deenethorpe, and after the 401BG left after VE, the RAF used it - and built the nuclear bunker. I'm no historian, but that book 'Aviation in Northamptonshire' may elaborate on that and give dates.
