Our grandfather was a top turret gunner on this B-17 G.  Anyone out there familiar with this plane?   I am looking for any photos, crew, relatives of crew, stories and anything related?  I have been looking for information for the past four years and little has surfaced.  Your help is greatly appreciated.   - Kyle

There are no pictures known of the plane according to my sources.  As with most inquiries like this, I suggest checking with the National Archives (see other Forum postings) anyway, and request them to check what they have on the crew by pilot's name, group, squadron, etc.

I just recently was notified someone had responded to my inquiry on this webpage.  Sorry it took so long to email, I don't know why I never before saw your reply.

My spouse's grandfather trained on Omar in the States before it was sent overseas to Europe.  Overall he flew in the 15th AF over Foggia and Italy on 51 missions.   He passed in 1994, but the only plane anyone remembers him talking about was "Omar the Dentmaker".

Any information you have would be so welcomed by her and of course, the sons and daughters who have little to go on.

I can be reached via email or my address at:

13352 West 64th Drive
Arvada, Colorado 80004

Thanks again so much for replying.   I owe you one !It goes to show I should have kept up on any postings.
