Posted By !! Comments |- | '''Craig Wiess'''
1/25/2004 2:16:00 AM | Hi,
I'm doing some research on my family's history in the military. My uncle Frank "Murph" Wieszczecinski served with the 401st in WWII. I don't know what squadron he served in. I know he flew several missions as a tail gunner. I'm trying to gather some information on what missions he was on and what time he served. As I understand the conversations that I've had he served towards the end of the war.
Any information would be a great help. Now you may ask why I'm not asking my uncle, rest assured he is still alive, but he isn't all that interested in talking about it, it seems. So here I am looking for information.
Again, any help would be great.
|- | '''Donald Byers'''
1/25/2004 1:12:53 PM | Sorry did not find your uncle listed in any of the 401st Bomb Group Squadron's on my first pass through each member.

You say he was with the 401st could it be that he was with the 401st Bomber Squadron which is with the 91st Bomber Group? Or do you have info that in fact it was the 401st Bomb Group?

Don Byers
Lubbock Texas
|- | '''Craig Wiess'''
1/26/2004 12:57:52 PM | I was able, by looking through the mission histories to find him. He flew 8 of the groups last 9 missions as part of 2nd Lt. R.L. Reynolds crew in the 612th Squadron. His name is spelled Wieszecinski on the crew list. But with 14 letters, sometimes a few get lost.
If anyone has any pics of R.L. Reynolds crew that'd be great.
Thanks
Craig

|- | '''L.A.Mitchell'''
1/27/2004 5:50:50 PM | Craig, I'm in process of mving X country and every thing is now in Boxes. After geting sqared away, I'll look for info on Uncle Frank.
In meantime , on this web site, clic on MEMBERSHIP, scrol; down to info on joining the Best Damned Outfit in The USAAF and copy and present to Your uncle. He'll be GLAD that you did. She might be able to help.

Elizabeth
|}
