John Parr 10/7/2002 11:30:35 PM | My dad said that there was no one particular plane named Helen Repeat. He and his crew flew numerous different aircraft. Thanks for the list. I have scanned a crew picture in and hope to send it very soon. Helen was the name of his future bride. |
Scott McElvain 10/10/2002 12:02:15 PM | Thanks for the info. There is a booklet called Project Bits and Pieces that has a listing of B-17s by serial number. Among the nicknames without an assigned serial number is Helen Repeat. Can tell them it was not a specific B-17. |
John Parr 10/10/2002 2:40:38 PM | A couple of my own stories regarding my dad in the 401st is: When I was in the Air Force (Cpt)stationed at Hanscom AFB, MA,(78) we moved into a condo in Nashua NH. Turned out one of our neighbors was in the 615th and moved into the same hut my dad was in, right after my dad finished his tour. This fellow stayed in and retired as a LtCol. I will have to try and recall his name.... Oh, and another story.... On my first assignement as a new 2LT at Scott AFB, IL, in 73, I met a flight nurse who turned out to be the daughter of my dad's Flight Engineer!!!!! What were the odds...? |
