Seawell became air executive to succeed Col. Vorhees who went to the 94th Wing and Lt. Col. (then Maj) Ralph J White became CO of the 15th Squadron to suceed Co. Seawell. On 16 Aug 1944 we flew (615th) our first combat mission to Scheuditz/Leipzig, Germany to bomb a JU-88 bombber assembly plant with six each 1,000 lb. general purbose bombs. We were brieved at 0300 hours and all aircraft was airborne at 0644 hours. Our squadron commander Major White led the group on this mission. The 615th piolst and crews on this mission were Lts. C.J. Parr; P.J. Sullivan; W.
F. Grimm; L.E. Cooper; W.H. Mcillraith; H.E. Haskett and John Udy. And I have seen your posting before and as you know he was left behind for the break up of Deenethrope to close it out. Not much on that at all in this book the 401st History book. It is worth the $55.00 to get this book.

Donald A.
