5/29/2004 11:32:35 PM 		I am looking for any information about Lee Peters. He was the radio operator on "Hey Lou" that went down over the English Channel on 12/31/1943. He was my mother's cousin and I am doing some research on him. If anyone has any information or possibly knew him, I would love to hear from you. Thanks

5/30/2004 7:01:43 PM 		The 401st Bomb Group was on a mission to submarine pens at Bordeaux, One of the two pklanes lost that day was that of Lt. Donald H Lawry .On return they crashed in english Channel. Only body of copilot, James Dockendorf, was recovered.Other crew members lost were lt. Lawry, Lt. H.W. Self, Navigator, Lt. B. Weiner, Bombardier,  Sgt. Lee Peters, Radio OP.,F.G. Waterman, Engineer,  C.C. Roome, Ball Turret. B.W. Wood, Tail Gunner.  R.D. Knutson, Waist Gunner. and L.G. College, Waist Gunner. The crewwas on their 6th Mission.To: Paris 12/5/43 (Group's 1st Mission) ,Emden 12/11/43,  Kiel 12/13/43, Bremen 12/20/43, Luddwigshaven  12/30/30/43 and then the one to Bordeaux  12/31/43   HOpe this info is f help.  L.A.Mitchell

5/30/2004 10:59:48 PM 		There seem to be no known pictures of Hey Lou, but you might check the National Archives (see some of the postings on this page of the forum on the subject) for a crew picture. There is a Missing Air Crew Report (MACR) number 1872 which you could get a copy of from the Air Force Historical Office.

5/31/2004 10:15:08 AM 		I have a crew picture of Lee Peters. His mother wrote on the back " Ist Sgt. Lee J. Peters Jr. 23 years old, Radio Gunner taken at Cut Bank Montana Sept. 1943. This is the plane and crew (minus one) that flew across the Atlantic." I have no idea if it's Hey Lou or who the other men in the picture are but I would be glad to share it with anyone who is interested.
