Hello every one. I need a little help. I'm looking for patches from the 401bg and 612bs. I could have the patches made if I had a good clean color picture. So, if any one knows where I can find the patches or a picture of them I would be greatful. Oh. and I'm not looking for originals, reproduction would do nicely.

Thanks, Mitch

Mitch:
There are two official books that have the patches, that may be available in your local library (or available through its inter-library lending program). I don't recall if all insignia are shown in color, though:
1. Combat Squadrons of the Air Force, WWII, by Maurer Maurer, pub.1969, USAF Hist. Div., Air University; and
2. Air Force Combat Units of World War II, 1961, 1983; Maurer Maurer, Pub.1960, Dept. of the Air Force; ISBN 0-89201-092-4.

The other source is:
1. USAF Academy, Libraries, www.usafa.af.mil.  I believe there is a 'contact us' E-mail address at the site, and you could request the 614SQ insignia - they may be able to send you an image, in color.

jm60@concentric.com is the only site I could find that had all of them.  The 401st Group generally is considered not to have had a patch although I have seen it somewhere that there might have been a patch with a bear mascot called Mangler they had during their training days in the states.  Have never seen an example of one of these patches.
