| Alamo likely late 50's early 60's that I picked up at a church garage sale.<br/> <br/> <a href='http://s1126.photobucket.com/user/donaldbyers/media/Misc/The Alamo1_zpszcbadjxc.jpg.html'><img class='ForumMaxImgWidth' src='http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l608/donaldbyers/Misc/The%20Alamo1_zpszcbadjxc.jpg' /></a><br/> <br/> <br/> A Poem that was written by my then 12 year old Aunt.<br/> <br/> The Alamo<br/> by Donna Vee McCarson<br/> <br/> Have you ever visited the Alamo<br/> Where many well-educated people go?<br/> There's where Texas was inspired,<br/> There's where many a bullet was fired.<br/> <br/> Mexico won  <nowiki>--</nowiki>  Texas Lost.<br/> Women and children paid the cost.<br/> Travis, Bowie, Crockett fell;<br/> All the rest fought very well.<br/> That was the battle that lasted for days,<br/> <br/> People were killed in many ways.<br/> Trophies now lie in that old Alamo,<br/> And if you ever get a chance, be sure and go.<br/> <br/> ________________<br/> This poem on Texas history was composed by a youthful poet<br/> of 12 years, Donna Vee McCarson of Aubrey, Texas, niece of Mrs. J.H.
