Jesus Guides Us Into The Holidays

I love to think of Jesus, I have no dearer friend.
It gives me courage when I pray and tell Him how I’ve been.
I know He wants to know about me and what I plan to do,
Not just today but every day, not just of me but also all of you!

Approaching holidays now loom large, turkey day is first.
Everyone is priming their system which they hope won’t burst.
We all eat more than we should and I know it is a sin,
But Jesus will forgive us as He always does, again and again!

Our family is coming together, a big group all in all.
Everyone is helping out for that’s our standard protocol.
When we place it all upon the table it is quite a spread.
We’ll ask the Lord to Bless it all just as He does our Daily Bread!

Our family is gathering from all around, it’s quite a sight to see.
Every chair is occupied and some sit on other’s knee.
That makes it hard to balance a plate since we’re no acrobat,
But when the plate is empty of course we will all feel very fat!

Too bad old Tom the Turkey is fitted with only two legs.
Some will have to be happy by partaking of several deviled eggs.
Lots of stuffing will do the trick and we all will eat too much,
But by tomorrow we’ll be out of gas and our toes we can finally touch!

We go bowling to work it off, I’m speaking of fat you know.
It’s not exactly like a baseball game with balls and “strikes” to show.
To roll a “strike” requires real good aim right down the middle,
But everyone of course will miss those pins, if only just a little!
