He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Barbara and a son David. John was on a voluntary duty mission with another crew when the formation was attacked by serious ground fire and John received serious leg injury which required hospital confinement when they arrived back at Deenethorpe. John received the Purple Heart in recognition of his wounds as well as the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Clusters for his missions over enemy territory. I send my deepest sympathy and condolences to Barbara and David and can assure them that their loved one is resting easy in the presence of the One who receives all into the fellowship of those "Saved In Christ!" Jake Shepherd, Pilot who depended on John's expertise and never missed a call!

|- | '''donaldbyers'''

5/2/2012 3:07:27 PM | Jake,

Thanks for posting this untimely news and pass on my heart felt sympathy to his family from me and the collective 401st BG Assn..
