| I have been absent as you guys know while I try to catch up with things from my husbands passing and keep up with raising 2 grand children.<br/> <br/> After months of trying to find a company that may or may not have been the one who sent sports equipment to our soldiers while they were prisoners of war..I finally decided to call the Spaulding Co. as I know they do make sports equipment and have been in business since the 1800's.<br/> <br/> I was finally able to connect with the lady in charge of the archival they are now setting up for the company.<br/> <br/> I inherited...with some arm twisting..the <u>2 softballs and 1 baseball</u> that my father brought home during WWII when he was a <b>POW in Stalig Luft III</b>. I wanted to know if it was perhaps Spaulding was the company who had generously sent the sports equipment to the POW's. Lacey Wells who is their archivist told me that they not only sent sporting goods to the POW's but also made some of the bomber jackets during that time. It is apparently Lacey's job to work on setting up the archives for Spaulding and that includes gathering all kinds of information including their old catalogs from that era and more. She indicated that it was possible that there were old sketches of some of the bomber jackets that she may be able to copy and send me copies of. I am looking forward to seeing just what the company had at that time.<br/> <br/> Who else made these bomber jackets...can someone tell me?<br/> <br/> Also can someone tell me how (without harming them) I can bring to light the old faded writing on the balls? | Don,<br/> <br/> I had no idea they made everything from sporting equipment, to rubber to bomber jackets during the war. It will be interesting to see if she can find the drawings of the bomber jackets.
