9/11/2010 2:11:39 PM | The 401st Bomb Group database was started with the writings of Vic Maslen years ago. This research by Vic was the main source of all the current data held for the 401st BG. We are now aware of additional information held at the National Archives II in College Park Maryland which is available for the purpose of enhancing our information. I and others are aware that the Maslen documents have missing information which can be found from different sources. These sources can include: 1. Names of combat crews not listed in Vic’s documents. 2. Serial Numbers of aircraft not shown in Vic’s documents. 3. As flown diagrams which provide a second source of aircraft serial numbers. 4. Aircraft Abort report for each squadron. 5. Loading List’s each squadron. 6. 94th Combat Wing warning orders. The information above can be scanned to disk by Mr. Tim Frank. His price is $50.00 an hour with a total cost of around $7,000.00. This data would be down loaded to a standalone external hard disk drive for storage. The second source of information is from Maxwell AFB Archives. Which is now available on CD’s and has a cost of $30 per CD and has a total cost of $480.00 shown at the top of the spreadsheet. It is in the best interest of the 401st Bomb Group to have all available information when presenting facts and backing them up. I therefore request the BOD approve a fund raiser for obtaining this information for current and future study and web site enhancement. This proposal will be seen in the next PFG but wanted to post it on the forum also. Please send Donations to the 401st BG at: 401st Bombardment Group (H) Association, Inc. P.O. Box 15356 Savannah, GA 31416 Thank Your for your continued support. Don Byers Group Historian
