| I was lucky enough to pick up this pair of Benjamin RAF runway approach lights for a few pounds off a junk stall at RAF Bury St Edmunds last weekend. &#x1f603;<br/> <br/> <img class='ForumMaxImgWidth' src='http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k227/ramc181/LA2.jpg' /><br/> <br/> <img class='ForumMaxImgWidth' src='http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k227/ramc181/LA1.jpg' /><br/> <br/> AMWD = Air Ministry Works Department<br/> LA = Light, (Runway) Approach<br/> 12 = 12" dia. lens<br/> P1 = not entirely sure, but most likely indicates a prefocus lamp. 1950s examples are marked H1 indicating a High Intensity Lamp.<br/> <br/> I've given them a quck clean overall with soapy water to show the yellow paint up properly, but they're off into the workshop this week for a bit of gentle TLC as almost every nut, bolt and fastener is rusted solid.<br/> These seem to be mid WWII - mid 1950s in date, so may have been the type installed at Deenethorpe as part of the standard MkII Drem lighting system. <br/> I'll have to compare them with the one that Graham has in the collection to make sure.<br/> <br/> Amazingly, what with this Euro-ban on proper lightbulbs, I was able to get a pair of brand-new 200 Watt bulbs for these within a day of arriving home. &#x1f603;<br/> <br/> All the best,<br/> Paul <br/><br/>Paul Bellamy<br/> <img class='ForumMaxImgWidth' src='/public/Attachments/ForumNew.MainPage/resource1.png' /><br/>
